Neptune Refrigeration worked with our long term client, Austral Fisheries on the full refurbishment of a vessel refrigeration system.
Specifically, Neptune Refrigeration were required to design and prefabricate a new compressor ‘rack’ for the main refrigeration. The old 45-year-old system was removed, the area ‘made good’ and the new system positioned, mounted, piped, wired, and put into commission.
This required our team of experts working on the vessel, including, Jeremy Spence, Lochie Fitzroy, Tom Thompson, Rein Moyle and Saxon Squire. The vessel was mostly at Norship in Cairns on the hardstand, then it went into the water for completion. Neptune Refrigeration had all the equipment prepared beforehand, ready to fit.
The system refrigerant was changed to a more environmentally friendly type as part of the upgrade, One of the Neptune Refrigeration team members went to sea with the vessel for a weeks’ worth of in-service commissioning and tuning, a premium service Neptune Refrigeration offer to all of our clients to maximise the benefits of a new custom designed solution for marine vessels.
There were some challenges, all marine work is, as we predominately had to work around tight schedules, weather and tide predictions. But on this occasion it was the end time frame, as we were unable to perform a lot of the works until the final week, meaning it was a race against the clock to ensure everything was fitted accurately, and had to put long hours in.
The result was another happy customer; Austral Fisheries were rapt that Neptune Refrigeration could co-ordinate the installation with such short notice. We have a great rapport with our long term customer and will make sure the outcome is as expected.
